Download the GuideWith the Olympics, Wimbledon and other sporting events on the horizon and if you enjoy your sport, there are plenty of outdoor and sporting pursuits that celebrate the essence of British sporting past and present, available at Hambleton Hall or on our doorstep for guests to experience and enjoy.
Bikes
There are bikes available for hire and they are ideal for the roads and tracks around the lake. The circuit of Rutland Water measures some 25 miles, most of which is on tracks.
We have 2 electric bikes and 3 mountain bikes for hire (bike helmets are also available) and please do let us know if you would like a map or suggestions on where to stop on route. If you would like to hire a bike during your stay, please contact our reception team to check availability and book.
Bike Hire – Per Bike:
Electric Bikes – half day – £40
8.30am to 1.00pm or 1.30pm to 6.00pm
Electric Bikes – full day – £50
Mountain Bikes – full or half day – £20
Aqua park
Rutland Water is also home to Aqua Glide, the UK’s biggest aqua park. Open from May till September, and measuring 50m by 50m this floating inflatable park has climbing walls, trampolines, balance bars, rockers and rollers. Visit http://www.aquaparkrutland.co.uk/ for more information.
Triathlon
Rutland Water is an excellent location for triathlon training and events. Inspire2tri offers weekly open water swimming training from April to September for triathletes and recreational swimmers. Every season there are numerous competitions culminating in the British middle distance Triathlon Championships which takes place each September.
Croquet
A few metres from the sun-drenched terrace is Hambleton’s croquet lawn. As easy sport to master, with many complex rules and skills to practise. Be certain to ask Tim or Chris for a copy of the rules.

Our annual Christmas Concert is on Monday, 16th December, we are delighted to be returning to St Andrews Church in Hambleton village.
Our emphasis has always been on great choral music with a line up of around 12 singers supported by organ, and if the music chosen suggests more we add tympani and trumpet. Jonathan Stork and Keith Halliday have kindly agreed to put together the singers from their network based around St Mary’s in Nottingham. We have enjoyed their performances many times at Harts and at Hambleton and rely upon them to provide some great classical pieces as well as more modern compositions. We have also asked them to choose a few carols for the audience to join in with.
The concert starts at 7pm, guests are welcome to arrive from 6.30pm for glühwein and mince pies.
Tickets for the concert only are £25 per person.
For the concert followed by dinner at Hambleton Hall, £200 per person (Champagne and canapés, 3 course dinner, wines and coffee)
For the concert, dinner and overnight accommodation (on B&B basis) from £700, per couple.
